What information can I search using the new journal’s website?

You can search any article published in the Journal since 2002. You may search by keyword or by Author names and extended search facilities will be implemented soon.
All articles are available as full text PDF and, starting from 2013, as epub and full text xml. 

What is available for free access?

Content available to all for free includes:
Full search facilities within the journal’s website
Article metadata, including authors, abstract and manuscript dates
Selected articles identified as FREE online
Selected articles identified as OPEN ACCESS
Full journal information and information for authors. 

Do I need to register as a new user to use the new publications platform?

No, you do not need to register as a new user to search the website. However, we recommend that you create a login account so that you can take full advantage of some features, like marking your favourites and sharing articles with colleagues.

I have changed my email address: what should I do?

Our journal platform uses your email address as your unique ID. You cannot change your email directly, but we need to create a new account for you, based on your NEW email address. Please contact our Customer Service.

What features does the new Journal platform offer?

On top of the regular article search, you will be able to create your own collection of favourites, access article metrics, share articles with peers and with social networks, email articles to friends with your own email. 

Is the Journal’s website available on mobile tablets (iPad, Android, etc.)?

The new website is ready to be used on any device, including mobile phones. For most journals, full text articles are now supplied as html and epub, making them suitable for reading on smaller screens. Mobile sites are also available for some of our publications.
All other functions, like search or purchase, are also available on mobile tablets.

How can I use an EPUB file available in my journal?

An EPUB is a free and open e-book standard by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). Files have the extension EPUB. It is designed for reflowable content, meaning that an EPUB reader can optimize text for a particular display device. This format is compatible with most eBook readers. Some devices, however, may require to download and convert the file to match their technical specifications. 

Is there an iPhone app available for the journal?

We are working to develop a mobile software application.

How do I activate my individual online journal subscription?

If you purchased your subscription directly online, you already have a username and a password.

If your subscription is part of your membership to a Scientific Society follow these steps:

  • Click on the “Claim Access” link on your journal’s homepage
  • Enter the email address with which you have been registered
  • You will immediately receive a new temporary password
  • Log in with your temporary password
  • Go to your personal area and change your password 

Please be aware that the email address your society supplies to us is the one you will use to access the journal.
If you have changed your email address, please contact our Customer Service and supply your NAME and SURNAME and the Journal you subscribe to. 

Can I use the same username and password across multiple journals’ websites?

Yes. Your user account is connected to your email address. If you do not change that email address, all subscriptions will be available for you with the same username/password.
You can log in from any of the journals you subscribe to and you only need to log in once per session.
If you browse a journal for which you do not hold a subscription, you will simply not view protected content, but you will be able to select your choice articles, make purchase or subscribe to the Journal.

I  subscribe to the Journal via a Subscription Agent

If you access the journal via a Subscription Agent, you cannot use a personal account.
If you wish, for instance, to purchase single articles from another Journal, you will need to register for a personal account.

Do you mail journals internationally?

Yes. Each journal subscription may be delivered to different addresses. Each subscription has its own delivery destination. Should you subscribe to more than one journal you may elect to choose different delivery destinations. 

I forgot my username and password for my online journal account!

Use the Forgot your Password? link under the Login area to receive a temporary password. This will be emailed to the email address you registered on the Journal’s website. However, if you have changed your registration email, you may have problems in receiving it.  In this case contact our Customer Service.

How can I access online journal back issues or supplemental content?

If you require content not available on the Journal’s website do contact the Customer Service: in most instances, we can retrieve back issues and single articles in our Archive. 

Where can I read your privacy protection policy?

To view our Privacy policy, use the relevant link in each journal’s homepage.

How can I receive email alerts?

To register for email alerts, use the appropriate link usually in the top area of the Journal’s home page. 

How can I be removed from your mailing list?

From any of the emails you receive from the Journal, use the  “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom. This will remove you from the mailing list.
To have your name and address removed from our database, please send a request to our Customer Service with your full name and email address. You will receive a confirmation email after we have processed your request.

What can I do with protected contents if I am a subscriber?

Full-text articles are only available to paying subscribers to that particular journal. If you are not a subscriber you will not have access to the full text and be prompted to purchase the article.
Full-text article files are available in PDF format, epub and html. After logging in, click on your selected article and you will have access to its full text and to the downloadable pdf and epub files.
You are entitled to save a copy of the PDF file in your pc, but you can only use it for personal use and you are not entitled to make reprints of it.
Should you need additional copies to share with colleagues, please use the options available through the Copyright Clearance Center, which will legally allow you to proceed. 

When I open a PDF file the wrong article appears

This is a rare occurrence in the system but it may happen: please help us to improve the website by notifying our Customer Service with the Journal’s name and the Article Title (issue and page number are also useful, if possible) and we will replace the article online immediately.

I seem to have problems accessing content

Due to system maintenance and development, occasionally the platform may be running slow or return error messages.  In this case try using the 'back' button on the browser and complete the action again or refresh the screen (press CTRL + F5)  
If you continue to experience this problem, please email our Customer Service with a screen shot before the error and a screen shot of the error itself so that our Technical Support team can assist you. 

How do I contact Technical Support?

Please send an email describing the problem you encountered to [email protected]. They will forward it to the appropriate engineer. Please also add information on whether you use a PC or a MAC, the operating system and the browser in use. 

Do I have an account/customer number?

Although you have an ID number to identify you within our database, it is sufficient for you to use your email address. This is for a unique record.

How do I renew my journal subscription?

You can renew your subscription online. Simply log in with your username and password and go to any of the subscription links (Pricing and ordering, Subscribe, Subscribe to journal).
You will be guided to pay online using PayPal or with your Credit Card.

Can I purchase a single issue?

Yes, at  the moment it is necessary that you contact our Customer Service.
Shortly, you will be able to purchase directly online and pay by credit card.

Do you have any information for agents and retailers?

Yes, please contact our Customer Service with your request.

How do you handle personal information?

Please review our Privacy Policy. This is available on any journal’s website.

How can I make a claim?

For all claim enquiries please contact our Customer Service, supplying your full name and email address, and detailing your claim.
