About the Publisher

Who we are

Wichtig Editore is an academic publisher. For nearly 40 years we have been publishing journals and books, written by researchers for researchers, with the aim to widen and support new research and perspectives in medicine. All our journals are published online, most of them also in print. The majority of our publications are indexed in the most important bibliographic indexes, and along traditional publishing, we now offer the option of open access publication. We provide scientists, students and health information professionals with peer-reviewed information, serving on a regular basis more than 15000 people worldwide.

Where we started

Founded in 1977 by the renowned nephrologist Diego Brancaccio, Wichtig started its activity publishing the International Journal of Artificial Organs, which is still the most important publication in its field.
With the confidence of a first successful publication, other important medical titles were launched: the European Journal of Ophthalmology, the International Journal of Biological Markers, Hip International and the Journal of Vascular Access are some of the most relevant publications.

The Editorial Boards of these outstanding medical journals acknowledge the most important and well known specialists in their respective fields and it is also thanks to their contribution that our publications are widely read and appreciated all over the world. 

What we do

Along medical journals, we publish books, proceedings of scientific meetings and conferences, monographs in selected areas, such as nephrology, cardionephrology, dialysis, oncology, artificial organs, ophthalmology, gynecology, biomaterials, hemapheresis.
We promote and foster scientific seminars and workshops in selected areas, involving expert teachers and specialists dedicated to advanced medical education.
From the very beginning we positioned ourselves as a knowledgeable link between the medical world and leading advanced research, while our efforts and commitment have received extensive recognition.
